Global Energy Company
An energy company at the forefront of new, emergent energy technologies. They wanted to explore and strengthen the relationship between the board and the executive team. They also wanted to strengthen their capacity to work with complexity and engage in better quality conversations.
We carried out deep dive, 1:1 conversations with the executive and non-executive board members to surface different perspectives on the board relationship, focus, performance and ways of working. We facilitated a series of power conversation about what was working and what needed to change.
Stuck patterns of behaviours between the executive team and non-executive directors were surfaced, acknowledged and discussed. The executive team’s understanding of how to collectively lead in complexity, and where this created tension between them and the board, increased.
Global automotive company
This international automotive company commissioned a leadership development programme for its senior leaders. There was a gap between their leadership capacity and what the business wanted to achieve in the world. We supported them to reimagine and re-equip their leaders.
We designed a transformational 9-month development programme to increase leaders’ confidence and capability to lead in change and complexity. The programme supported a shift from a hierarchical, command and control model of leadership to a visionary and empowering model.
The programme was so successful that we delivered it to 50 leaders, across several cohorts over 4 years. Shifts in leadership included greater collaboration, increased considered risk taking, increased capacity to move out of silos and take a cross enterprise perspective and better conversations.
UK Insurance company
This insurance organisation tasked us with increasing the effectiveness of their Senior Leadership Team (SLT). They wanted leaders to ‘step up’ to take a broader view of their role in a rapidly changing business. We worked alongside Magus to design and deliver this work.
We delivered a 9-month leadership development programme which included working with the SLT and the Executive Committee (ExCo). The programme integrated with existing initiatives to provide a stretching participant experience. We used live business challenges as the vehicle for learning.
The client is seeing increased challenging, supporting and collaborating across SLT, along with increased openness, engagement and better working relationships across ExCo and SLT. The SLT are a more cohesive group who are now more willing to take on cross functional challenges.
Global Bank
Our client is a global bank, headquartered in the UK. They knew they had a broken rung in the career ladder for both women and people of colour, and they wanted to shift the dial on inclusion by creating a more diverse talent pipeline.
We designed a career accelerator programme that included a blend of group and 1-1 coaching, self-directed learning, sponsorship and ‘pay-forward’ opportunities. The programmes were based on principles of peer-to-peer learning through dialogue and discovery. This was a global project operating across three continents, with a global delivery team, yet tailored to the unique geographic needs.
More than 3000 colleagues in the bank have been through the programmes. Promotions rates for programme participants are better than a control group of comparable peers. Participants report higher levels of confidence, career clarity and ability to challenge the status quo.
